The
Rover RT-1500 is a web-based real time tracking system that
uses GPS technology to accurately determine the exact location of your
vehicle. |

The Rover RT-1500 does not require a monthly service fee.
You can set the unit to update its location while the vehicle is moving
every 5, 15, 30, 60 minutes, once each 4 hours, once a day or
week, or only by a ping. The costs for these location updates are
only $0.08 cents each. If you are only
going to use your Rover RT-1500 to occasionally track its
location, these are called pings. Pings are also
$0.08 cents each. |

The unit also has 3 inputs which can be connected to your vehicle’s
alarm or airbag inflation system to inform you if your alarm is
going off, or if your airbag was inflated. It can be used to
Disable the starter, unlock the doors, blow the horn, etc.

You can also use the Rover RT-1500 to disable your vehicle
starter in the event that it was stolen. Starter Disable kit is
included in the Rover RT-1500 package. The Rover RT-1500 is
very easy to install on your vehicle. It comes with a sensitive Trimble
magnet backed GPS antenna, a Celemetery antenna, power cable, inline
fuse included, that connects directly to your battery or fuse box and
the starter interrupt package.. For the system to monitor its own health
and any alarms or functions assigned to it, it must always have
electrical power. It would take weeks to drain the battery if the
vehicle is not started regularly. |

There are two types of locates reports.
|

Automatic
Location Reports: Reports made to the
monitoring center on a schedule set by you using the
dip switches on the rear of the Control Unit. You
can set the unit to report from weekly to every 5 minutes. You can
easily Geofence the unit. You can request the unit report on motion and
send a email or SMS to your cell phone notifying you that the vehicle is
moving. You can also set it to only report on a "Ping". You
can change the automatic reporting schedule at any time.
For security they cannot be changed wirelessly.

a message to your Rover RT-1500 weekly and instruct it to give
itself a health checkup and report its condition. If in the
event your battery is low or we detect a problem with the RT-1500 you
are notified by email or we send a SMS your cell-phone. There is
no additional charge for the checkup, email or SMS sent to your
cell-phone. |

The
average daily commute of about 2 hours 5 days a week.. If
your location reports were set for every 30 minutes it would cost
$1.28 cents for the month
to track the vehicle. Location history is saved for 90 days on our
server.
Insurance companies often offer discounts if the
insured vehicle has a theft recovery system on board. Check with
your
agent to see what you would save.

Q: What do I do when I
get the Rover RT-1500
A: Included in the
printed material is a fax sheet. Fill it out and fax it to
the included number to set up your account and activate the RT-1500.
Set the dip switches to the automatic location updates you are going to
use. they are: web poll only, once per week, once a day, every 4
hours, every hour, every 30 minutes, every 15 minutes, every 5
minutes or in response only to a ping or when motion is
detected..

Q: Can I change the location updates wirelessly.
A: No. you must power the system down to reset the dip
switches. If someone obtains your username and password they cannot
change the location report schedules you selected. This is to protect
you since you are
responsible for payment
of all reports and pings.

Q: Can I install the system myself.
A: You can use a cigar lighter plug-in or directly connect
the power cables to your vehicle's battery or fuse panel. The
system comes with a inline fuse. Remove the fuse before
installation and be sure you connect red (+)
to Positive and black (-) to Negative. Failure to do so
could severely damage the system.

Q: What should I do if i want to use the input/output remote
functions.
A: If you do not have the technical knowledge you
should have a local New Car Dealership, preferably of your make, or a
reputable Stereo/Radio shop do the installation. The three functions can
be used to: Monitor airbags, Lock doors, Engine compartment or
trunk opened, Alarms sounding, Flash the lights, Blow the horn,
Open the doors, Disable the starter etc.. A complete diagram and
instructions are included in the package. The Starter Interrupt
hardware and a large blown up diagram are also included.

Q:
If I use the RT-1500 as a stolen vehicle locator and do not how do
I know the system is still working.
A: Once a week the monitoring center
pings the unit to give itself a health check. If there
are any malfunctions a alert will be sent.. You can set alert
destination in configurations. For this reason it is necessary to
have power to the unit even when not reporting locations updates.

Q:
Is the RT-1500 waterproof or can I waterproof it and attach it under a
vehicle with magnets for covert tracking.
A: No. At this time we do not offer a waterproof model and
it is not possible to use silicone or other liquids to seal the
electronics enclosure. It is made for dry environment, inside the
vehicle installation. Attaching Magnets and /or placing the RT-1500 in
any wet environment, without proper protection from the elements, will
void the warranty. Shorting the transmitter will trigger the system to
report as if an alarm was initiated. It would send a report
every 5 minutes until power is severed.
We offer a special crushproof, water proof magnetically
mounting enclosure for this type of application. The power cable along
with the combination GPS & Cellemetry antenna is permanently passed thru
the container and sealed. To use this accessory you simply
disconnect the power cables and antennas from the RT-1500, insert the
unit in the container and attach the permanently installed power cables
and antenna. .Call for availability of this accessory. The price is
$79.00 and they are built to order, shipping usually within 5 to 7
business days..

Q:
Where can I place the antenna for best performance.
A: Click on the Image Tab for some
pictures of proper placement. The Rover RT-1500, and any
other system, must be able to see the sky to lock onto the GPS
Satellites. It takes 3 satellites to get a location fix within 15 meters
and as it locks onto more satellites the location accuracy can be
as accurate as 1 meter or better. The Celemetery antenna can
be placed anywhere in the vehicle. The enhanced GPS antenna, with a
built in magnet for easy mounting, needs to have a partial view of
the sky. The two antennas need to be at least 6" apart.
